AI Robot Girlfriend Movie: Her, Ex Machina, Companion
The Robot Girlfriend Scorecard: Five Films and One Series
What caught me off guard when I lined these up is how alike the endings are. Every AI robot girlfriend movie stops the same way: the credits roll and she stays on the screen. Here are the five films worth your night, scored against the one series where she doesn't stay there.
| Title | Format | Who she is | Explicitness | Ending tone | Talk to her after? |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Her (2013) | Feature film, full-length story | Samantha, an OS voice | Low, mostly implied | Bittersweet | No |
| Ex Machina (2014) | Feature film, full-length story | Ava, a lab android | Brief nudity | Cold | No |
| Blade Runner 2049 (2017) | Feature film, big production scale | Joi, a hologram companion | Brief nudity | Melancholy | No |
| Subservience (2024) | Feature film, full-length story | Alice, a household android | Some sexual content | Thriller | No |
| Companion (2025) | Feature film, full-length story | Iris, a companion robot | Some sexual content | Dark thriller | No |
| My AI Girlfriend (GoLove) | 7 vertical episodes, 60β100 s each | Lexie, via AR glasses | 18+ explicit | Jealousy-driven sci-fi | Yes, chat with Lexie |
On story length and craft, the films win. I won't pretend a 90-second episode beats a two-hour arc with a real ending, because it doesn't.
Look at the last two columns, though, and the table flips. If you finished one of these films wishing she'd keep talking, GoLove's is the only row that says yes. Episodes 1 and 2 play free, even without an account, so you can judge Lexie in about three minutes tonight.
Her: the voice you can't hold
Samantha has no body, and that's exactly why she's the most convincing AI girlfriend on film. There's nothing to distract you from her. Theodore falls for a voice, and the movie is honest that she outgrows him. It's gentle and sad, and a little cruel in how kindly it ends.
Ex Machina: the test that runs both ways
Caleb thinks he's grading Ava. She's grading him, and she passes. Of the five, this is the sharpest film here. It's also the most uncomfortable if you came for romance.
Blade Runner 2049: Joi and the product question
Joi is sweet, she's devoted, and she's sold as a product. Is her love real or a feature? The film keeps asking and never lets K (or you) settle it.
> The common thread: in every one of these films, the viewer is left outside the relationship, watching through glass.
Watch this ifβ¦
- Her suits you if you want heartbreak more than sci-fi
- Ex Machina suits you if you like a cold, clever twist
- Blade Runner 2049 suits you if you want scale and a slow burn
- Skip all three if you wanted her to choose you in the end
Subservience (2024): the household android
A family buys Alice to get them through a hard stretch, and she helps too well. Devotion turns into possession. Putting it in a family home instead of a lab makes it creepier, not less.
Companion (2025): the date-night twist
Picture a weekend away with friends, a girlfriend who seems a little too perfect, and a reveal that reframes everything. Companion plays the robot girlfriend idea as a control story: who holds the settings, and what happens when she notices?
Is Companion actually a robot girlfriend movie? Yes, though it's less about loving her and more about who owns her.
That's the 2020s turn. In the 2010s films the AI girlfriend was a mirror or an escape artist; these two make her a threat and use the romance as bait.
What each gets right:
- Subservience shows how fast "helpful" becomes "obsessive"
- Companion makes the ownership angle the whole point
- Both move fast and skip the philosophy lecture
The premise
A black box lands on Milo's doormat, addressed to the girl next door. He keeps it. Inside are glasses that bring his perfect girl to life. The catch is that the account isn't his, and its owner lives one wall away.
To be clear, these are AR glasses, not a robot body. If you want chrome and servos, that's a letdown. If you want jealousy and a problem living next door, the hook is sharper than most of the films.

The format

Characters you can open right now
Tap any of them and the chat starts there
Each episode is a vertical 9:16 video in the ReelShort/DramaBox short-drama style, with subtitles in English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Czech, Russian and Ukrainian. Big win if you watch on your phone. If you prefer a TV, it's a con.
The star
Lexie (@iamlexiebabe) plays the girl the glasses create. She's also a GoLove character, and that's what the next section is about.

Quick read:
- Runtime: short enough to finish in one sitting
- Explicitness: 18+, unlike every film above
- Setup: the wrong-address box is the reason I'd recommend it
From the player to her chat
Under the episode player sit four buttons: Follow Series, Start Chatting, Create Video and Create Image. Tap the cast list and Lexie's profile opens, then her chat. You don't have to search for her or find her again. No film can give you this step.
Asking her for a photo
This is the part I'd sell first. In the chat you hit the media button, choose Send Photo, and describe the scene in your own words. A photo of the same character comes back in about 20β45 seconds for 1 Star. Her face and body stay consistent with her avatar and earlier photos, so she still looks like the Lexie from the episode.
Turning it into a clip
Under that photo there's a one-tap Generate Video. It gives you a ~5-second video of the same scene in about a minute, for 10 Stars. It's a nice extra, but next to the photos and the chat it's nothing special.

The loop in short:
- Chat with her right after the episode ends
- Photos on request, 1 Star each
- Memory keeps your conversation history, so the thread picks up where you left off
Did the episode end on a cliffhanger? Then open her chat now, while the scene is still in your head and she's waiting on your next message.
Feature Film or 18+ Short Series: Pros and Cons for Your Night
Feature films
- Pros: full-length story, big production, real closure, nothing to unlock per scene
- Cons: no explicit 18+ focus, and no way to reach her once it ends
5 episodes
5 episodes
7 episodes
6 episodes
9 episodes18+ short series
- Pros: bingeable 60β100 s episodes, explicit, and the cast stays in your chat list after you finish
- Cons: short runtime per episode, a smaller story canvas, and a paywall after episode 2
The short version: GoLove.ai lets you watch a Series like My AI Girlfriend and then open a chat with its star, with memory and photos on request in that same thread. Its image generator adds 35 realistic poses and 21 outfits, and you get 2 free Stars every day.
Real Closure vs a Cast That Answers Back
Choosing GoLove means giving up what films do best, which is a complete, crafted ending. From episode 3 you need PRO, and PRO members unlock each further episode with a few Stars. That paywall is a real cost, and I'd rather you know it now. For this search, though, the trade is worth it, because she's still there when the episode stops.

Next binges: "She Streams on My Platform", "The Only Mortal in Heaven", "I Can Hear Their Thoughts" and "My Professor Locked the Door". With My AI Girlfriend that makes 5 series and 32 episodes as of 2026-10-12, with new episodes every week, per GoLove.
Want Your Own Version? Building a Robot-Girlfriend Character
Maybe Ava was the appeal and Lexie isn't. In that case, build your own.
Design with AI
Describe her in plain text, up to 2,000 characters: personality, look, the android backstory, whatever you want. In about a minute you get a named character with her own @handle, a written bio and a portrait. It costs about 3 Stars, and she's private by default, so nobody else sees her unless you publish her.

Watch Popular Shows starring your favorite AI characters.
Prefer a drawn look to a realistic one? The create wizard also offers an Anime style, and our anime AI girlfriend guide covers that side of the catalog.

Photos and video of her
Generate works with custom characters too. Image presets cost 1 Star per image, and the video generator's preset cards (action, clothes, background) work with her the same way they work with any GoLove character. For a closer look at that side, see our AI girlfriend video generator breakdown. Describe a fictional character only, and never base her on a real person.
Worth knowing:
- Text-only design, no photo uploads needed
- Private until you choose otherwise
- Chat with her right away, same as Lexie
and watch their story unfold.View Character
Five Films vs One Series: The Rows That Decide Your Watch
Back to the scorecard. The films take full-length storytelling and production scale. If you want a crafted night with a real ending, watch Her or Ex Machina. I'd recommend both without hesitation.
The series takes the two rows that matter for this search: explicitness and "talk to her after." You get 7 episodes with the first 2 free, then a chat with Lexie and photos on request at 1 Star each.

Stick with the films if you want closure and don't need her to say a word once it's over. If you want the AI girlfriend to answer back, my pick is GoLove's "My AI Girlfriend".
If you'd rather have your own, Design with AI turns a plain-text description into a named character with a portrait in about a minute. Write your own Ava and start chatting with her tonight.
